Katelynn Laird is a self-made young author. She wrote her first book, The Social Scenarios Experiment, when she was seventeen. Since then, she's also published "The Acting Class," a short story, with The Main Street Rag in Spring 2017 and debuted a new crime-thriller novella, The Darkness Behind the Face in 2022. Since then, she's added a few more titles to her repertoire, including a Darkness Within sequel and children's books. Writing is one of her passions, along with music (singing in particular), cooking, and being outdoors.

Laird wrote her first book while attending Denver School of Science and Technology: Green Valley Ranch High School. She was a senior at the time.

Laird currently holds a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing and an undergraduate Secondary English Education licensure from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Laird has been interested in music and songwriting since early childhood. From learning every Bon Jovi lyric when she was three (thanks Mom) to taking musical electives in both high school and college, while Laird may devote most of her time to authorship, music will always be her first love. 

​

Laird was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there for about five years. Her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada shortly before her sixth birthday. The family moved again when Laird was eight, this time to Denver, Colorado, where she resides now. She still has large amounts of family living in both Illinois and Nevada.

Laird has four siblings, all sisters, including an identical twin, Kristine. Kristine shares her passion for writing among other creative pursuits. Her sister Jenna is six years younger and Nicole is eight years younger. Alexandria, born when Laird was three, sadly passed away as an infant.

Laird's parents are Lisa Laird and Richard Laird, both of whom are supportive and caring individuals. Both currently reside in Denver, Colorado. 

​​

In addition to writing, Laird teaches AP Literature to high school seniors in the Green Valley Ranch area in Denver, manages the school's Writing Center, and co-runs the music club.
